Press Release: Family Paws “Dogs and Children Safety” Seminar. July 19th, Haslemere Educational Museum.

Local Dog Training Company to Host “Dogs and Children Safety Seminar” in Haslemere .

Haslemere based Capable Canines Ltd is delighted to be hosting Licensed Family Paws Parent Education Presenter Corrine Lisle in a special Dogs and Children Safety Seminar to be held at the Haslemere Educational Museum on Saturday, July 19th from 1PM -5PM.

Concerned at the steady rise of dog and children related tragedies, Head Trainer and Event Coordinator Claire Goyer began researching better ways to provide education for new parents.  “I was worried that the right messages were not getting across “ says Claire. “Education and preparation can make all the difference in the world when it comes to safe interactions between babies and dogs, but that education has either been very hard to come by or based on outdated training methods which can often make things worse”.

It was through a chance Facebook link that Claire discovered the Family Paws Parent Education Programme.  “I try to network with as many local trainers as I can, and met Corrine Lisle of ForPaws in Godalming  via mutual friends on Facebook. Finding out that she was a Licensed Family Paws Presenter was a stroke of luck!”

Corrine is one of the first Licensed Family Paws presenters in the UK, and specialises in the relationship between dogs and children. Answering the call of many parents, Corrine’s presentation sets the groundwork for successful dog and baby interactions for expectant parents, and families already raising babies with dogs. “Lots of families struggle with the dilemma of how dogs and babies can have safe, positive interactions that are fun for all involved.” says Corrine. “This presentation will help parents create harmonious environments and increase safety for children in the home, garden and in public places.”

Ideal for families with dogs, families about to get dogs, and people who own dogs that regularly come into contact with children, the presentation is also be a great way for trainers & those who work with dogs to obtain up to date information that they in turn can use to help their clients.

Delegates can expect a lively afternoon filled with helpful information and ideas that that can implement right away including:

  • The types of supervision critical when dogs and babies live together
  • Exercises and techniques tailored to the different developmental stages of babies/toddlers to help both dog and baby live and learn happily together
  • New and fun ways to include your dog in daily activities
  • The importance of including family dogs in household activities with baby
  • The subtle body language of dogs
  • Common trouble spots and how to avoid them

There will also be a Q & A session to address any specific issues that delegates may be experiencing.

By addressing concerns up front, Claire is hoping that families can set proper expectations and practice new routines before any trouble begins.   “With changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act, making sure that your pet is safe around children is now more important than ever before, and one of the best way to do this is prevention through education”.

Tickets are only £40 and include refreshments, homemade cakes, and all supporting materials. Tickets can be purchased via , in person at  The Haslemere Pet Co 13 High Street Haslemere, or by ringing  01428 642279 and paying over the phone.
